FERRIS LEADS THROUGHOUT IN FIRST-PLACE SHOWING AT ASHLAND INVITE

Bulldogs Have Top Three Individual Finishers; Ward Takes Top Honors

Missy Ward shot a first-place 157 score in leading Ferris State to a first-place finish at the Ashland Invitational.
The Ferris State women's golf team, which featured the top three individual finishers, captured the Ashland Invitational (April 14-15) championship title as the Bulldogs turned in a first-place 641 two-round score at the Country Club of Ashland in Ashland, Ohio.

Ferris carded a final-round 323 score in Saturday's (April 15) play after registering a 318 in opening-round competition on Friday (April 14). Southern Illinois-Edwardsville posted a 665-stroke total to place second in the 10-team tournament field.

Sophomore Missy Ward earned top individual medalist honors for Ferris with a first-place 157 score (81-76--157, +13). Sophomore Becky Hoffman was three strokes back at 160 (78-82--160, +16) to claim second while senior Elena Robles shot a 161 (78-83--161, +17) to take third place. Junior Casey McKinnon turned in a 14th-place showing with a 167 (85-82--167, +23) on the par 72, 5,844-yard course.

Freshman Raquel Hansen had a 163 (82-81--163, +19) to tie two others for fifth place and freshman Meghan Hunter compiled a 168 score (81-87--168, +24).
