Chris Griffin Ties For Ninth To Lead The Bulldogs

Everett Leonard helped guide Ferris State to a fifth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament II.
The Ferris State men's golf team fired a fifth-place 316 score in Sunday's 18-hole round play at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament II in Falls of Rough, Ky.

The Bulldogs finished 28 strokes over par on the 6,888-yard Lafayette Golf Course to finish fifth of 21 participating teams. Saginaw Valley State claimed top team honors with a 308 total score (+20) while Northern Kentucky and Northwood tied for second place with identical 312 rounds (+24).

Due to inclement weather, Saturday's scheduled opening round was cancelled.

Senior Chris Griffin carded a team-leading 76 score (+4) for Ferris State to tie for ninth place individually. Senior Everett Leonard posted a 79 (+7) as did freshman Jeff Carlson to place in a nine-way tie for 19th place.

Freshman Kyle Mason shot an 82 (+10) for a 47th-place tying effort while senior Pat Simmer garnered a 60th-place tie as a result of producing an 84 score (+12).
