Bulldogs Among Five GLIAC Teams To Finish Among Top Six

Sophomore Aaron Brown shot a team-best 157 for Ferris State and posted his second straight 21st-place tying individual finish in tournament action.
The Ferris State men's golf team shot a final-round 321 score Monday (Sept. 22) to finish sixth place with a two-round 36-hole 634 team total at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament I in Coldwater, Mich.

The Bulldogs, who shot an opening-round 313-stroke score Sunday (Sept. 21) on the par 72, 6,895-yard Blackberry Patch Golf Course, finished 58 strokes over par as Findlay claimed top honors among 21 participating teams with a 609 score. Wayne State and Grand Valley State finished second and third with 616 and 621 scores, respectively. Fellow Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) member Saginaw Valley State took fourth place with a 628 team score as five of the tourney's top six teams were GLIAC representatives.

Ferris was led in the tournament by sophomore Aaron Brown, who recorded his second consecutive 21st-place tying finish with a 157 score (80-77-157, +13). The Bulldogs had three seniors - Pat Simmer (79-80-159, +15), Jon Pazdera (77-82-159, +15) and Everett Leonard (77-82-159, +15) place among seven other individuals in a tie for 33rd place.

Freshman Jeff Carlson fired a 167 total (84-83-167, +23) to finish in a four-way tie for 75th place.
