FERRIS TIES FOR SIXTH AT CATAWBA RENDLEMAN INVITATIONAL

Bulldogs Move Up Three Places In The Final Round

Ferris State was able to climb three placings in final-round play Tuesday at the Catawba Richard Rendleman Invitational as the Bulldogs finished with a two-round 607 team score to tie Presbyterian College for sixth place overall.

The Bulldogs, who shot a ninth-place tying 310 in Monday's opening round followed up by firing a 297-stroke total in final-round action on the par 71, 6,665-yard Country Club of Salisbury (N.C.) course.

Carson-Newman won the tournament with a 582 score (295-287--582) followed by North Carolina-Pembroke's 595 (295-300--595) was second best in the 15-team field.

Leading the way for Ferris were senior Chris Griffin and freshman Kyle Mason, who both finished in a three-way tie for 15th place with eight-over 150 scores. Griffin carded a final-round 71 which moved him up 29 places from a 44th place tie after Monday's performance. Mason missed his personal season best by one stroke as he shot a 76 followed up by a 74 in second-round competion.

Senior Everett Leonard came in tied with eight others for 18th place, recording cards of 77 and 74 for a nine-over 151-stroke total. Sophomore Aaron Brown competed as an individual and placed tied for 27th as a result of firing a pair of 76 rounds for a 152 total (+10).
