THREE FINALISTS FOR ASSOCIATE ATHLETICS DIRECTOR POSITION
Interview Sessions Open To The Public And Begin This Wednesday
The Ferris State University Athletics Department has narrowed its search for the vacant associate athletics director position to three finalists in an announcement made today (Dec. 2) by FSU Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic.
The finalists, who will be interviewing on the Ferris State campus starting this Wednesday (Dec. 5) were announced after Kirinovic and the search committee met to narrow the list of candidates in the screening and selection process.
The associate director position became vacant when Brian Kegler accepted the director of development for athletics position at the University of Tulsa in July 2007.
The three finalists are Rob Bentley, assistant athletics communications director at Ferris State University; Jesse Drake, race operations director for the Community First Fox Cities Marathon; and Shawne McCoy, assistant commissioner for communications for the Capital Athletic Conference, Inc., and assistant athletics director at St. Mary's College (Md.).
A public forum, which allows the public an opportunity to meet with each candidate, will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. (EST) during each candidate's interview session. The forum will be held in the classroom at the R.L. Ewigleben (pronounced A-VAH-glave-in) Sports Complex on the FSU campus. The public forum for Jesse Drake will be held from 11-11:45 a.m. (EST).
"I would like to extend an invitation to anyone who can attend to please do so," said Kirinovic. "This is a critical position within the athletics department at Ferris State University and we value the input of the community in this selection process."
The associate athletics director position will assist the Ferris State Athletics Director in the admininstration and supervision of the university's athletics program. Primary focus will be on the tasks that require internal department support and the assistance of a variety of campus entities on a day-to-day basis. The position will provide the athletics department with the administrative leadership in the absence of, or at the discretion of the Director of Athletics. Some specific responsibilities will include the oversight of the department's extensive marketing efforts, oversight of all department budget accounts and event management for the sports of football and men's ice hockey.

Wednesday, Dec. 12 - Jesse Drake (Race Operations Director - Community First Fox Cities Marathon)
Thursday, Dec. 13 - Shawne McCoy (Assistant Commissioner for Communications - Capital Athletic Conference, Inc. and Assistant Athletics Director - St. Mary's College)
