SAAC APPRECIATION NIGHTS TO BE HELD FEBRUARY 26TH AND 27TH
Ferris State's Student-Athletes and Faculty Will Be Recognized
Acknowledging the numerous contributions of its student-athletes and faculty, the Ferris State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committtee (SAAC) will hold its annual SAAC Student-Athlete Appreciation Night and Faculty Appreciation Night next week, Feb. 26-27, on the FSU campus in Big Rapids, Mich.
The SAAC Student-Athlete Appreciation event will be held Thursday, Feb. 26, in conjunction with Ferris State's women's and men's basketball doubleheader against Northern Michigan at FSU's Jim Wink Arena. The women's game tipsoff at 6 p.m. (EST) with the men's contest slated for an 8 p.m. (EST) start. All Ferris athletics teams are encouraged to attend and wear team shirts. The SAAC would like to have the various athletics squads present beginning with halftime of the women's game. Between the contests, the SAAC is sponsoring a reception in the multi-purpose gymnasium for all Bulldog student-athletes and coaches.
The FSU Athletics Department will also honor that night those teams who captured Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship titles and/or participated in NCAA Division II postseason competition. Those student-athletes who received All-America, all-conference and all-academic league honors will also be recognized.
The following evening, Feb. 27, the SAAC will be sponsoring Faculty Appreciation Night prior to Ferris State's men's ice hockey 7:35 p.m. (EST) contest versus Lake Superior State. A reception for invited faculty members only and their guests will take place at 6:30 p.m. (EST) in Wink Arena.
"This special event allows us (student-athletes) to take the time and personally thank these faculty members for their efforts in making a positive impact on our academic careers," said Navreet Gill, chairperson of the FSU SAAC Campus Involvement Committee.
Student-athletes wishing to attend the hockey game will be required to purchase their own tickets.
