About Ferris State Cheerleading

THE SEASON

Members of the Ferris State University Cheerleading program support the intercollegiate athletics & the Ferris State University by leading cheers & raising the level of fan support for the University athletic teams. In addition, the FSU Cheer Team serves as ambassadors of the University. The experience from being a part of this program not only channel enthusiasm in a constructive and beneficial manner, but will give participants a sense of pride and accomplishment in being a part of a group that is hard-working and respected.

PRACTICE

Team Practices will be held on Sundays (7-9 PM), Tuesdays & Thursdays (6 – 7:45 AM). Additionally, there will be team strength & conditioning workouts scheduled on Monday, Wednesday & Fridays (6:45 – 7:45 AM). Each practice will be held in the Aerobic Rooms located in the Sports Complex.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS

The Ferris Cheer Team is considered a varsity sport on campus and must follow the eligibility requirements set up by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). To tryout and remain on the team, individuals must have a 2.0 GPA and have maintained 12 credit hours per semester.

TRYOUTS

The team selection process is held twice per year (April/May & October/November). Team members are selected based on skill, academic performance and potential of contribution. There is more detailed information regarding requirements for tryouts located on this website under “tryout information”.
