Bulldog Of The Month Award Winners

Information on each of this month's honorees is included below. The Bulldog of the Month Award is presently on a monthly basis to a deserving Ferris State University male and female student-athlete based upon performances during the given period. Nominations are submitted by the Athletics Communications Office to the Athletics Director, who in turn selects the honorees based upon individual and team accomplishments. The awards are sponsored by Ken's Sports and Trophy Center in Big Rapids.

May 2007 Honorees

Laura Crower - Softball Senior Midland, Mich. Hit for a team-best .474 average with a squad-high nine base hits in 19 at bats. Compiled six RBIs, two home runs and three runs scored while totaling a .789 slugging percentage and a .524 on-base percentage. Registered a .973 fielding percentage with 68 putouts, three assists, and two errors. Recorded at least one hit in five of her seven games, which included back-to-back three-hit game performances against Saginaw Valley State (5/5) at the GLIAC Tournament and versus Gannon (5/10) at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament. Posted three RBI in consecutive NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional victories against Gannon (5/10) and Missouri-Rolla (5/11). Belted a three-run home run and had two singles in the Bulldogs’ 6-1 win over Gannon (5/10). Cracked a three-run home run in a 12-4 six-inning decision against Missouri-Rolla (5/11). Selected to the 2007 NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional All-Tournament Team.

Jeff Carlson - Men's Golf Senior Holland, Mich./West Ottawa Carlson earned medalist honors at the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Super Regional (5/7-9) with a first-place 206 three-round stroke total as the Bulldogs qualified for nationals by winning the regional championship title. A NCAA-II Great Lakes Super Regional All-Tournament Team member, Carlson helped lead Ferris State to a 17th-place finish at the NCAA-II Men’s Golf Championships (5/22-25) as a result of producing a squad-best 43rd-place tying 305 four-round stroke score. Carlson averaged 73.0 strokes per round (511 total strokes) over seven rounds for the month.
