BIG RAPIDS – Tiffany Rheynard is off to a solid start this fall for the Bulldog women’s tennis team in singles and doubles competition.
Rheynard, a native of Kalamazoo who prepped at Gull Lake High School, competed in No. 1 doubles, along with partner Amy Ingle, and earned an 8-6 victory as part of the team’s 6-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win against Saginaw Valley State at the Racquet and Fitness Center to open the season (Sept. 6). Then, in singles play, Rheynard scored a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 3 flight to help Ferris seal its season-opening victory.
Alex Palladino, in his second season as head coach of the women’s and men’s tennis teams at Ferris, was happy with her performances in singles and doubles against the Cardinals.
“Tiffany was dominating in her singles match and it was a nice follow-up match to how well she performed for us in doubles (teamed with Ingle),” Palladino said. “I think she did a very nice job for in that match and it showed in her being named GLIAC Player of the Week … it was a nice honor for her.”
Palladino is hoping for more good things from his sophomore tennis standout.
