BLOG 11: Meyer and Hansen college women’s golf honors

By Sandy Gholston

Women's Golf BIG RAPIDS – It’s no big surprise the names Alison Meyer and Raquel Hansen are mentioned prominently when post-season team honors are handed out.

The two seniors, representing head coach Michael Mignano’s program, were recognized as Meyer was named 2008-09 Most Valuable Player while Hansen was presented with the Bulldog Award (given to the team member that displays the most dedication and hard work).

Meyer is a three-time All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First-Team choice while Hansen is a three-time All-GLIAC Second-Team pick and a 2008-09 All-GLIAC First-Team honoree.

The two standout golfers have been consistent components of Ferris’ success in women’s golf to carry on the great tradition established years ago. Meyer and Hansen have helped keep the program strong and prosperous to strengthen the foundation from which future generations of FSU women golfers can take the baton and move toward even more success.
