BLOG 10: Women’s golf keeps the tradition going with trip to nationals
By Sandy Gholston
BIG RAPIDS – The tradition of strong play in women’s golf continues at Ferris State University.
Head coach Michael Mignano’s Bulldogs are headed back to the national championships for the sixth season in a row by virtue of their second-place finish in the NCAA Division II East Regional in Bella Vernon, Pa. It’s not a huge surprise as Ferris is considered one of the top teams in the nation and region.
Even with such expectations, however, Ferris did what it had to do to earn the second-place finish and their spot – once again – competing alongside the nation’s best women’s golf Division II programs.
This means that both the women’s and men’s golf teams are competing in the national championship tournaments.
For the Bulldogs, Raquel Hansen tied for sixth place with a three-round score of 235 while Alison Meyer was not too far off that pace with a ninth-place total of 237.
