BIG RAPIDS – One of the best bits of Ferris State University Athletics news to come out of this summer was hearing that the tag "interim" was removed from the title of head golf coach Mike Mignano.

Mignano is a very deserving Bulldog head coach who stepped into a tough situation the departure of popular and highly-successful coach Brad Bedortha, who received an opportunity to become a Division I head coach at Northern Arizona. That opened a spot for Mignano to take over men's and women's golf programs that have a history of success at the conference, regional and national levels. Mignano stepped in and helped guide the women's golf team to a fourth-place national finish at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships in Houston.

He has proven himself worthy of the position and it is nice to see good people rewarded for their efforts. Mignano, a 2006 graduate of Ferris State University with a degree in professional gold management, wanted the job and showed that he not only wanted but that he could handle it.

“This is truly a dream job for me,” Mignano said as FSU announced his official hiring for the position. “I enjoy being around the student-athletes and watching them succeed. I'm thankful for the opportunity to coach two outstanding programs at Ferris State University.”
