BIG RAPIDS – There were not too many surprises as the Ferris women’s basketball team handed out its post-season hardware.

Senior shooting guard Teghan Thelen was honored as the team’s Most Valuable Player. Thelen averaged 12.5 points to lead the Bulldogs and was an all-around scoring threat for Ferris during her final collegiate season.

Here are the rest of the awards:

  • The team’s top defender was point guard Chelsea Simonetti, who did an excellent job pressuring the basketball and hounding the opposing team’s lead guard from start to finish.
  • The top player coming off the bench was 6-foot-2 junior center Andrea Clancy, who averaged 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds.
  • The Rookie of the Year was freshman guard Kelsey DeNoyelles, who made an immediate impact as a player coming off the bench and providing an offensive spark.
  • Freshman guard Tricia Principe was a well-deserved recipient of the squad’s Hardest Worker Award.
  • Senior forward/center Ashley Fleming was presented the team’s Most Improved Player award as she became a steady force in the paint for the Bulldogs.
