BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State University worked to strengthen its perimeter for the future, during last year’s recruiting class, now the focus turns to the post.
The Bulldogs previously announced the signing of Midland Dow High School frontcourt player Leah Kebler, a 6-footer. Now, the Bulldogs have expanded its post recruiting with the addition of 6-foot-1 Indiana native Katy Fox. Fox is a player who will, in time, give the Bulldogs much-appreciated strength and a physical presence in the paint. She already is off to a good start this season averaging a double-double with points and rebounds.
Ferris had a chance to look at Fox when her AAU team came in for competition at team camp and had an opportunity to compete against a number of varsity teams from the local Big Rapids area and from elsewhere around the state. By virtue of that experience, she is somewhat familiar with Bulldog basketball, Ferris and the local community. Head coach Tracey Dorow liked what she had a chance to see from Fox and made the decision to put the prospect on her recruiting wish list.
In the end, it paid off and the Bulldogs could have a diamond coming in next season as Ferris will be losing several key post players to graduation.
