BIG RAPIDS – It has been a rough few weeks for Ferris State University’s volleyball team, but appears that perhaps a trip away from home was just what the Bulldogs needed to begin to turn things around.

Ferris (9-7 overall and 3-4 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) had lost six of seven matches entering this weekend’s contests in Sault Ste. Marie, against Lake Superior State, and University Center, against Saginaw Valley State. That changed in a big way for the Bulldogs as Ferris earned a 3-0 win over the Lakers, on Friday, and a hard-fought 3-2 win, on Saturday; against the Cardinals (a match in which Ferris emerged victorious courtesy of a 15-10 win in the fifth and decisive set).

Now that the Bulldogs have perhaps gotten the proverbial monkey off their back, with two straight league wins, Ferris has a big challenge to hold serve on its home floor in Ewigleben Ice Arena this coming weekend. The Bulldogs have to find a way to knock off two solid volleyball teams. Ferris faces Hillsdale (first place in the GLIAC South Division), this Friday, and Findlay, one day later.
