BIG RAPIDS – In addition to playing a double round-robin Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule, Ferris also has some strong non-conference opponents it will have to contend with this fall season.
Ferris begins its season with a long trip to Minnesota for contests against Minnesota State (Aug. 28) and Winona State (Aug. 30). From there, Ferris opens at home against regional foe Lewis (Sept. 1) before facing Quincy, another regional opponent, on Sept. 4 in Allendale. Following that, Ferris begins what should prove to be a grueling GLIAC schedule with home and away contests against all of its traditional rivals in the league.
The league opener is at national power Grand Valley on Sept. 13 and promises to be a challenge from start to finish.
Coach Neathan Gibson, who will be entering his fourth season this fall, has never been one to duck tough competition and he will be hopeful his squad will be up to the challenge if these quality opponents. Known for running a tough and tight ship, Gibson is working hard this spring to get his team ready and it’s a safe bet that hard work will continue into the fall.
