BIG RAPIDS – It’s tough every game in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the upcoming week will be no different for the Ferris State University men’s basketball team.
The Bulldogs host Wayne State on Thursday at 8 p.m. and will welcome Northwood on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. to Jim Wink Arena.
Ferris (8-7 overall, 6-4 GLIAC) has won five of its last six games, but that will not help the team in this week’s games against the Warriors and Timberwolves. Each game is a new challenge. That is the reason you look at the league standings and see a lot of records of 5-5, 6-4, 4-6 and 3-7. The three exceptions are the top-ranked Division II team in the nation Findlay (10-0) as well as Lake Superior (7-3) and Tiffin (0-10).
The Bulldogs had an impressive start to their homestand with three wins in three tries last week (victories over Grand Valley State, Tiffin and Ashland). This week, however, Ferris gets the challenge of a solid Wayne State team (6-8 overall and 4-6 in the GLIAC entering the week) that has been well-coached over the years and an improved Northwood team (9-6 overall and 5-5 in the GLIAC entering the week) that has been playing greater confidence.
