BIG RAPIDS – “There is no wild music being played in the locker room and I think the players are taking this (weekend series results) the way they should be taking it,” Ferris ice hockey head coach Bob Daniels said.
Daniels’ Bulldogs dropped a 6-2 decision to the No. 14 Buckeyes, on Friday, and then followed up with a 2-2 tie (with a 1-0 shootout loss) on Saturday against Ohio State (one of the hottest college hockey teams in the nation). The Buckeyes left Big Rapids with a 16-6-2 overall record that includes 9-5-2-2 in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings.
Daniels felt the play of his team was solid on Friday, but even stronger Saturday in Ewigleben Ice Arena.
“I thought we carried the play against a very good Ohio State team (on Saturday). Now, are we satisfied with the results? The answer is: no,” he said. “I thought we gained some confidence, but I’m still upset we didn’t play like that from the start (on Friday).”
Starting fast and maintaining a level of play will be a point of emphasis for the Bulldogs as they move into an off week before they begin preparation for a home series against Nebraska-Omaha (another of the top teams in the CCHA and in the nation).
