BIG RAPIDS – There was a level of disappointment following Ferris State’s ice hockey loss on Friday night to Canisius, by a 5-2 score.
But, the Bulldogs’ head coach Bob Daniels was quick to point out that in essence the college hockey team is a marathon rather than a sprint to the finish. This season is still in its infancy now just two games into the campaign.
Indeed, visiting non-conference foe Canisius put up a good fight and capitalized on a few uncharacteristic Ferris miscues to post a big scoring night.
“It’s just one loss and it’s going to be a long season for us where there are going to be some ups and downs,” Daniels said. “There are going to be some ups and downs in a season and we just have to (stay focused).”
Daniels wants to see his team clean up the “correctable” mistakes that led almost directly to some goals for the Griffs on Friday.
Ferris did bounce back – it should be noted – in Saturday’s rematch as it quickly turned the tables and secured a strong 5-2 win.
