BIG RAPIDS – The Lift-A-Thon is one of the most important events of the year for the Ferris State University football team that doesn’t actually take place on the football field.
This year’s Lift-A-Thon is scheduled for Tuesday (March 24) beginning at 6 p.m. from Jim Wink Arena. The goal for this event is to raise the necessary funds that help the program meet some of its financial needs. This is the 27th year of the tradition and Ferris hopes to get more and more people involved – people who want to support the Bulldog football program. The team hopes to raise at least $20,000 for the 27th year in a row.
The event is free of charge and everyone is encouraged to attend and help in what is the primary fund-raising event for the football team. Ferris uses the event as a way to help with funding scholarships as well as improvement for facilities, funding for spring practice and for fall preseason camp.
The Lift-A-Thon also is a great opportunity to meet with the coaches and student-athletes while they’re trying to raise funds. It’s a nice opportunity to be social.
