BIG RAPIDS – It has been a long, long ride for Ferris State University senior linebacker Jordan Moore, but his personal journey through the Bulldog football program finally came to an end Saturday at Top Taggart Field.
Moore, a team captain, began the game singing the national anthem before the 1,533 fans in attendance at Top Taggart Field. During the game, he battled injury to stay on the field as long as he possibly could – right down to the end. In the end, however, the Bulldogs just didn’t have enough to steal one last good feeling as visiting Saginaw Valley State ended the season for Bulldogs by grabbing a 26-14 win at Ferris’ expense.
“It’s not the way you want to have things to end for your career, but there was no quit in this team and we kept on playing hard right down until the end. We didn’t quit out there,” Moore said. “We’re not quitters and we showed it.”
It was a rough last two weeks for the talented senior trio of Bulldog linebackers: Moore, Jeff Hollandsworth and Kevin Noe. Hollandsworth suffered an injury during last week’s loss at Hillsdale that ended his season and career. Noe, in a fantastic tribute, wore Hollandsworth’s No. 5 jersey, but against the Cardinals he suffered an injury. Moore also was banged up, during Saturday’s contest but fought to stay on the field.
“It was tough because Jeff went down last week and it was awesome that Kevin did that. It was a nice tribute,” said Moore, a 6-foot and 226-pound native of Ada who prepped at Lowell High School. “It has been great for me to be a part of this senior class. I actually had a medical redshirt. My class was actually ahead of this senior class. But, I was more a part of this senior class than I would have been a part of my own. It has been great for me to be a part of this class and to be a part of this program.”
