BLOG 48: Football team bounces back into national rankings
By Sandy Gholston
BIG RAPIDS – Ferris’ dramatic come-from-behind 31-24 win over Northern Michigan, last Saturday, helped vault the Bulldogs back into the Division II football national rankings this week.
Ferris is now ranked 25th nationally according to the American Football Coaches Association Division II National Poll. Also, for the first time this season, the Bulldogs are ranked nationally by D2football.com (No. 25).
As I mentioned before, national rankings are nice and bring with them great recognition. But, the ranking is only as good as your next game – particularly when you’re sitting at 25th and getting ready for a road trip to Houghton to face what will be an angry Michigan Tech team celebrating homecoming in the Upper Peninsula. The Huskies hope to rebound from a 52-6 loss at national superpower Grand Valley State.
Ferris has to handle its business and reverse a trend of tough losses to the Huskies.
