BIG RAPIDS – Ferris State’s women’s cross country team turned in a solid effort as part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Lake Superior State at Tanglewood Marsh Golf Course in Sault Ste. Marie.

While the women placed third, the men finished 10th as the Grand Valley State men’s and women’s teams – in what is no big surprise – won their respective championships in the eastern Upper Peninsula on Saturday (Oct. 25). The GVSU women placed all seven of their runners in the top 10 while the Laker men’s team put four of its best in the top 10.

Saginaw native Mikinzie Stuart, one of two Ferris seniors (the other is Jackie Green), had yet another strong race as she finished eighth overall in 22:14.5 in Sault Ste. Marie. Megan Josey was next for the Bulldogs as she finished 24th in 23:08. The second senior for the Bulldogs, Green, placed 28th in a time of 23:24.7.

For the Bulldog men, Tyler Crossman continues his solid season as he clocked a 32nd-place time of 26:01. Alex Best was 44th in 26:14 and Mike Mangieri earned a top-60 finish as he placed 55th in 26:34.1.
