NCAA DIVISION II SELECTION SHOW TO AIR THIS SUNDAY

Bulldogs Hoping To Receive First Bid To NCAA Tourney In Seven Years

NCAA Basketball The NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament Selection Show will air live via satellite this Sunday night (March 6).

The 30-minute selection show of the 64-team field and regional championship sites will be broadcast live on the Altitude Sports and Entertainment Channel beginning at 10:30 p.m. (EST) following the Division II women's selection show starting at 10 p.m. (EST). Both shows will be produced by NCAA Productions from Indianapolis with Jim Barbar anchoring the men's show and Anthony Calhoun hosting the women's telecast.

Altitude Sports and Entertainment can be found on DirecTV Channel 644 or Dish Network Channel 410. Selected local and regional stations, including Comcast Local in Michigan, Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) and the Carolina Sports and Entertainment Network (C-Set), are also scheduled to air the selection show live. In addition, the offical NCAA Championships website (www.ncaasports.com) will provide live audio and video streaming of the show via the internet. Both the 64-team men's and women's brackets will be posted at the site immediately after each selection show.

Cox Sport Television will air the shows on a same day tape delay while the Madison Square Garden Network (DirecTV Channel 621 and Dish Network Channel 412) will air only the men's bracket announcement same day tape delay at 11 p.m. (EST).

The Bulldog men's basketball team will square off against the Wayne State University Warriors in the semifinal round of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament this Friday, March 4, at Findlay, Ohio. The contest, which will be played at the University of Findlay's Croy Gymnasium, is set to tipoff at 7:30 p.m. (EST) following the first semifinal game between the host Oilers and Michigan Tech beginning at 5:30 p.m. (EST). Friday's winners will move into the tournament championship game Saturday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. (EST) in Findlay.

Saturday's eventual league tournament champion receives the GLIAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional slated for March 12-15. Eight regional teams, including six at-large squads, will participate in the national tournament. The Bulldogs, who are ranked third in the latest (March 2) NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Rankings, are expected to receive an at-large bid regardless of this weekend's GLIAC Tournament outcome.

Ferris State, which is ranked 19th in the latest (March 1) National Association of Basketball Coaches/Division II Bulletin National Poll, presently holds a 22-5 overall this campaign and has won 11 consecutive contests to date. The Bulldogs also claimed their second-straight GLIAC North Division Regular-Season Championship this season.

FSU has made six previous NCAA-II National Tournament appearances, including an Elite Eight showing in 1988-89. The Bulldogs' last national tournament bid came in 1997-98 after winning the GLIAC Tournament championship. Ferris holds a 5-7 all-time mark in national tournament play at the NCAA-II level.
