"THE PLAYERS CUP" UP FOR GRABS AT FERRIS FOOTBALL GOLF OUTING

Bulldog Alumni Encouraged To Come Compete For The Prize At June 6 Event

The "Players Cup" is a division reserved for only former Bulldog players and coaches. Each four-member team must be comprised of former players or coaches only (no ringers). The winning team receives the traveling trophy in addition to great prizes and bragging rights for a full year. The division was created to increase alumni participation in the event.

Last year's winning team consisted of former players Bill Scheible, Mark Sarver, Steve Duchon and John Baylis. The group, which played together at Ferris in the 1970's and annually gets together to play in the golf outing, has challenged other alumns to come and compete for this year's prize while supporting the program at the same time.

"We challenge the alumni to keep supporting our football program that gave us so many great times and memories," said Scheible. "The weekend gives us a chance to see former coaches and many of the other players we competed with at Top Taggart Field along with allowing us a chance to visit our old stomping grounds around Big Rapids.

"Being a member of the Bulldog football alumni group has been and always will be a big part of our lives," he added.

Registrations are currently being accepted for the Ferris State University Football Golf Outing. The four-person double shotgun golf scramble, which is sponsored by the FSU Gridiron Club, serves as one of the Ferris State football program’s primary fundraising events. The afternoon shotgun start will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The cost for this year’s event is $90 per player, which includes golf green fees, power cart, lunch during play, beer, soda and bottled water on the course, and a buffet style dinner. Women participants will be allowed to hit from the women's tees. A great package of team and individual prizes will be awarded.

The Holiday Inn in Big Rapids has reserved a block of room for both Friday and Saturday (June 5-6) nights at a "Bulldog Package" rate of $75 per night (double occupancy). A special "family package" will also be offered in conjunction with the outing this year along with the "Big Dog Package" for those wishing to play 36 holes during the day on two courses.

Individuals are encouraged to submit their registration forms along with complete payment as soon as possible to guarantee participation in the football golf outing and aid in the planning. Checks may be made payable to Ferris State University Football.
