The Road Construction curriculum builds on a foundation strong in basic construction technology, mathematics, science and general education. Instruction continues with courses covering project costs, estimating, scheduling, contracts, total quality management, safety, engineering fundamentals, technical communication and business management. Construction-related computer software is integrated into all areas of the curriculum.
By blending technical instruction in construction and engineering with a strong business education, the Road Construction program at Ferris gives students the ability to manage and supervise the entire construction process.
Construction management students can choose from two concentrations: commercial/industrial or highway/bridge.
The single largest industry in the United States, construction plays a significant role in the nation's economy. As it grows in size and scope, the industry continues to provide excellent employment opportunities.
The ACCE-accredited Road Construction program at Ferris State University fills a vital need for time, cost and quality control in construction projects through the application of proper management tools.
With proper education and training, Road Construction college graduates can anticipate obtaining leadership positions in general contracting, project coordination, field supervision, quality assurance/control, estimating, marketing, field inspection and subcontracting.
Admission to the College of Technology is open to high school graduates who demonstrate academic preparedness, maturity and seriousness of purpose with backgrounds appropriate to their chosen program of studies. Among first-time students in our technical programs, the average high school GPA is 2.8, and the average ACT composite score is 20.
Students may enter the Road Construction program as freshmen or transfer students, or after completion of a two-year associate degree program from any accredited college or university. Freshman must have a minimum 2.0 high school GPA and a minimum ACT math sub score of 19. Transfer students must have a minimum 2.0 college GPA.
The Road Construction program at Ferris State University leads to an accredited bachelor's of science degree. Graduation requires a minimum 2.0 GPA in core classes, in the major and overall. Students must complete all general education requirements as outlined on the General Education website.

A question and answer period follows the presentation and includes a few surprises! Lunch is provided at one of our well known dining facilities on campus. After lunch, guests may take part in a walking tour of campus led by one of our exceptional student guides. The walking tour takes approximately 1 hour.
