DESCRIPTION AND GOALS
The FSU Athletic Pep Band performs for home games of the Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, and Hockey Teams. Travel to away play-off games is also a possibility. The goals of Education, Ambassadorship, and Community promote the philosophy of Ferris State University, musicianship, leadership, and life skills. Band members conduct themselves at all rehearsals, performances, and social events in a manner that promote these goals.
EDUCATION
Ferris State University Athletic Pep Band members strive for academic excellence. The Athletic Pep Band leadership and individual band members promote educational opportunities at rehearsals and performance events and encourage academic success among band members.
AMBASSADORSHIP
Ferris State University Athletic Pep Band members exhibit the highest levels of musicality and school spirit possible. Members represent Ferris State University, the FSU College of Arts and Sciences, the Department of Humanities, the Music Area and Music for Life, themselves, and the community of Big Rapids, Michigan. Band members observe the audience practices and sports vision as set forth by the FSU Athletic Department and GLIAC and NCAA regulations.
COMMUNITY
The Ferris State University Athletic Pep Band functions in a unified and spirited manner during rehearsals, performances, and social events that promote not only community but education and ambassadorship. The Ferris State University Athletic Pep Band holds a unique connection with alumni band members.

GENERAL INFO
- Membership:
General membership in the Athletic Pep Band is open to any FSU student and at the sole discretion of the Faculty Director. New members must participate in a playing interview and complete the Membership Application and Contract. A provisional membership could be granted for upper classmen wanting to participate when their academic schedule prohibits General Membership.
- Rehearsals:
First Sunday evening rehearsal, August 26, 2007: 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm
First Thursday evening, August 30: 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm
Succeeding Sunday & Thursday Evenings: 8:00 – 9:00 pm
