About the FSU Jazz Band
The FSU Jazz Band is sponsored by Ferris State University as part of its Music for Life! initiative.
The FSU Jazz Band performs traditional and contemporary literature for big band, along with additional instruction in improvisation. Membership is open by audition to university students and members of the community. Auditions are required for new and returning members. The auditions are held on Monday and Wednesday evening in the first week of classes.
The FSU Jazz Band rehearses on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30-6:45 p.m.
Ferris students can earn Scholarships for their participation in the FSU Jazz Band!
Academic Credit of 1 hour is earned by enrolling in Music 280, and the course can be repeated for additional credit every semester. Many of these credits can count towards fulfilling the General Education requirement in the area of Cultural Enrichment.
