Mission:

• Garrett Eye Center supports the whole health of the individual by providing preventative, curative, and restorative health services from an ophthalmology perspective in a patient and employee friendly environment.

Orientation Instructions:
You should contact Dr. Hartwig 6 weeks prior to the beginning of your rotation to verify dates, times, directions, parking, and any other information.  Completion of Hepatitis B series is required (unless waiver is signed) and annual TB testing must be completed.  BE CERTAIN TO TAKE YOUR CURRENT CPR CRD, TB TEST RESTULTS CARD, AND HEP B (OR WAIVER FORM) TO EACH OF YOUR ROTATION SITES. Report to the address above at 8:00 a.m. the first day of the rotation for orientation to policies, clinical protocol, administrative procedures, etc.

Operating Hours: 
            Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm  
            Student will visit  the Escanaba site on Mondays.
    Hours of direct patient care for extern per day: 8 (40 per week)
    Number of patients seen by extern per day: 8-12

Educational Objectives:

• To become familiar with current concepts in medical and surgical treatments including refractive surgical care.
• To be able to assign appropriate assessment and plan to each patient exam.
• To improve examination efficiency
• To understand effective coding and billing
