Find It (SFX) Help
This document is meant to be a users' guide for SFX, an electronic journal retrieval software available in some of our databases.
What does Find It do?
It provides a link from a citation to a full text article, when full text is available and to other helpful services like the online catalog, and document delivery when the article is not available. Find It is a fast way to find out if the library has full text of an article.
How do you use Find It?
In many of the databases, the words "Find It" (or a button) will appear; click on the words to get to a menu of your options of full text, catalog, or document delivery.
Why is there not a full-text link to your article?
If the Find It menu appears and there is not a database link, it is because the library is not entitled to electronic access to that title. Click on the catalog link to see if the library owns that title in print or microform.
Why do you get an error message when you click on the link to your full text article?
A full text link may not work because the article is so recent that the publisher has not published it online yet or it could be because there was an error in the citation you found. If a citation was entered incorrectly in a database, Find It will not be able to locate the article.
Why don't I always get directly to the article when I click on the full-text link?
Find It will take you as close to the article as possible. You may sometimes have to refer to the previous Find It menu to identify your citation, which will allow you to find the article. This citation will help you locate the article on the journal's homepage or even, find the journal on the publisher's homepage.
