Liaison Librarian Activities at FSU
Librarians at Ferris State University's Timme and Health Sciences Libraries will intensify their liaison activities this coming 2000 - 2001 academic year. Librarians will visit their academic departments periodically, to meet with faculty, department chairs, and deans to discuss issues of mutual interest, especially those related to collection growth, accreditation, and new programs. The liaison program will be monitored and periodically reviewed so as to render appropriate service to the academic programs.
A library liaison program is designed to provide a communication link between library faculty and the academic community. Generally a librarian is assigned to a specific academic department or departments based on his or her subject expertise, interests, or job responsibilities.
We currently have eleven liaison librarians who meet regularly to exchange ideas and discuss departmental activities. Contact information for library liaisons, as well as the various academic departments or disciplines they represent are listed on the Ferris Library Web site, under "Faculty Services." Faculty and students are encouraged to call their liaisons between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the regular semester or email them at any time to discuss concerns or suggestions.
Through the use of liaison services, the library is able to develop a strong collection that supports the curriculum and the research needs of the University. For more information please contact:
