Laptops in Instruction Studio have Wireless Network
Hands-on instruction methods have proven to be more effective than lectures for teaching many skills. This is especially true with learning that has both an intellectual and physical component, such as learning to search a computer database. With growing dependence upon digital information resources (i.e. computer databases), library instruction at Ferris State University Libraries has migrated to a largely hands-on format.
The instruction studio at Timme has recently been updated to give students, faculty, and staff a better learning environment. The Library has recently replaced a number of older notebook computers with new, faster computers configured for a wireless network. With this arrangement, the room can be adapted in a variety of ways to accommodate different class sizes and learning styles. The instruction librarians are eagerly anticipating fall instruction with these powerful, flexible tools.
