Did you know?

Document Delivery / InterLibrary Loan for Distance Education

What is Document Delivery?

Document Delivery is a free service available to Ferris distance students and faculty. Items such as books or journal articles owned by FLITE will be mailed without charge. Patrons are responsible for returning books to the library; we ask that you return them to us using a trackable method (i.e. UPDS, FedEx, etc.,). Copies of journal articles are yours to keep. FLITE does own ERIC documents on microfiche which we will be happy to copy and send free of charge provided the document is no more than 30 pages. You may request up to 5 books and 30 journal articles a week.

What is InterLibrary Loan (ILL)?

ILL services are available for free to all currently enrolled Ferris students, faculty and staff. Items not owned by FLITE will be obtained from other libraries for your use. Please note that ILL services may take longer than Document Delivery since we will need to obtain the materials before delivery. A maximum of 35 requests per week will be accepted.

How do I request items?

You will need to create an account in ILLiad if you do not already have one. Once an account is created, all future requests placed in the system will simply require your login. Additionally, the Find It links from SFX will take you to the log-in screen for ILLiad. After logging in, the information is populated into the necessary fields and you simply click Submit.

To create an account now go to ILLiad Account. Choose first time users and complete the screen. Once you are registered, you'll receive an email containing a link to the service. You will not need to know this link if you use the Find It links from any database.

Remember to keep your physical and email addresses up to date. Failure to do so may result in not receiving the materials that you had requested.
