Created and maintained by William M.K. Trochim, Professor of Policy Analysis and Management at Cornell University. Provides materials for learning the fundamentals of social research, including an on-line hypertext text book containing step-by-step instructions of defining a research question, sampling, measurement, research design, and data analysis.

Free Statistical Analysis
Created by Richard Lowry, Professor of Psychology at Vassar College. A free, fairly comprehensive package for statistical analysis of data. Enter your data online, and it gives you the requested analysis.

Help Center
Produced by the APA, this site provides a wealth of information designed for the general public. Included are such topics as psychology at work, the mind/body connection, family and relationships, and how to find help with life’s problems.

History of Influences in the Development of Intelligence Theory & Testing
Developed by two professors of education at Indiana University, this site gives a comprehensive overview of the field of intelligence theory and testing, from Plato to the present day. Using an "interactive map," the site offers a timeline of the major figures in the field and their affiliations with one another. Users can click on names, time periods, or schools to access more in-depth information. The site's "Hot Topics" gives substantial material relating to some of the most controversial issues in intelligence theory, including an extensive section-by-section summary of the bestseller The Bell Curve and article-length rebuttals by scholars.

Internet Mental Health
A free encyclopedia of mental health information, developed by psychiatrist Dr. Phillip Long. It included information on disorders, diagnosis, medications, and research, and also provides a list of related links organized by subject category.

Internet Psychology Lab
A project of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, this site provides a multimedia, interactive system for laboratory instruction in psychology. The site contains many interactive demonstrations and experiments and is divided into four sections: Visual Perception, Cognition, Auditory Perception, and Memory & Learning. Also includes links to related sites.

National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
Official web site of the National Institute of Mental Health, a governmental agency that conducts and supports research nationwide on mental illness and mental health. The NIMH site provides authoritative information on many facets of mental health research, and includes the conference proceedings of the National Institutes of Health. The site also contains a great deal of information about NIMH, including directories, employment opportunities, grants and contracts, and NIMH-sponsored legislation.

Neuroscience for Kids
Provides fun and easy to understand information and activities about the biological basis of behavior, drugs & alcohol, sensation and perception, and the like. The material is directed at children and adolescents, but much of it is also of interest to adults.

PsychCrawler: Indexing the Web for the Best in Psychology
PsychCrawler®, an index produced by the American Psychological Association, provides quick web access to quality content in the field of psychology.

Psychology Online
Developed and maintained by Marcia Wehr, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Santa Fe Community College, Gainesville, Florida. Oriented towards undergraduate students, this site provides information on psychological theories, famous psychologists, IQ tests, learning-style inventories, and personality tests. It also includes information about newsgroups and professional forums, and a huge number of links to related sites.

Psych Web
Site created and maintained by Russell A. Dewey, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Georgia Southern University. Provides links to online journals and pamphlets, other psychology "mega-sites," information about careers in psychology, APA style resources, a "find anything" guide to search engines, "tip sheets" for psych majors, and loads of information for both teachers and students.

General OneFile      [Ferris Only]
A very large full-text database with over 26 million articles, it indexes both newspapers and journals, including many psychology journals. Coverage is from 1980 to the present. A few journals, especially older dates, give only selective full-text.

Psych Central: Dr. John Grohol’s Mental Health Page
"Your personalized one-stop index for psychology, support, and mental health issues, resources, and people on the Internet, since 1995." Includes the Mental Health & Psychology Resources Online database, selected articles and essays by Dr. Grohol, book reviews, live chats, a professional forum, and commentary and selected headlines from around the Web in psychology and mental health.

PsycINFO      [Ferris Only]
This database "contains citations and summaries of journal articles, book chapters, books, and technical reports, as well as citations to dissertations, all in the field of psychology and psychological aspects of related disciplines, such as medicine, psychiatry, nursing, sociology, education, pharmacology, physiology, linguistics, anthropology, business, and law. Journal coverage, spanning 1887-present, includes international material selected from more than 1,300 periodicals written in over 25 languages. Current chapter and book coverage includes worldwide English-language material published from 1987-present. Over 55,000 references are added annually through regular updates."

Social Psychology Network
Developed and maintained at Wesleyan University and claiming to be "the largest social psychology database on the Internet," this site provides links to more than 5,000 psychology-related resources, including online reference tools, research information organized by subject, directories, career guidance, job postings, and discussion groups.

ESRC: Research Guide to the Social Sciences
The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) of the United Kingdom have funded this Research Guide to the Social Sciences. This directory provides annotated links to sites sorted by subject matter, including bibliographic, reference and research information, publications online, subject gateways, data services, data sets, data visualization, software services and support for data processing, images, moving pictures and sound, and learning and teaching support services. Excellent web guide and index containing extensive resources for undergraduate students and faculty interested in psychology. This site was developed and maintained by Vincent W. Hevern, SJ, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology at Le Moyne College. Although oriented toward the needs and academic scope of Le Moyne College’s Psychology Department, PsychREF should prove useful for students, teachers, and researchers from any college or university setting.
