Ferris Library for Information, Technology and Education
Did you know?

Part of the Ferris Collection is the Woodbridge N. Ferris Library. Before the 1930s, Ferris Institute had no official library. Instead, students would borrow books from their instructors- including Woodbridge N. Ferris. Portions of Ferris's personal library were purchased by Ferris Institute in the 1950s. Ferris had left his original library to his family and most of that was lost in a house fire in the 1930s. One section of the library had been in storage and was recovered through that purchase. Other books have been discovered and donated on an individual basis. For a list of titles, please click here.

Ferris Collection

The Ferris Collection contains materials produced by Ferris State University and its employees, or in a few cases, libraries of prominant individuals associated with Ferris. It contains yearbooks, published histories and other historical reports. The collection consists of books, as well as a few cds and cassettes.

Materials may be searched using the library online catalog.

The Ferris Collection was created to gather unique items dealing with Ferris history into a single collection that is accessible by patrons but more secure than general stacks so that it is preserved for future use. Therefore, materials may not be checked out.

Materials are available Monday- Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and by appointment.
