Dorothy Thorne Kussmaul was a 1936 graduate of the new "experimental" stenography class of 1936. Her first position was in the general offices of Ferris Institute, on campus.

Scope and Contents Note

This collection consists of the scrapbook Dorothy Thorne '36 kept of her student days at Ferris Institute, and her involvement during her first secretarial position in the Ferris Institute office. Included in the scrapbook are photographs, programs, invitations, and other items. Common subjects are activities which Thorne or her classmates were involved in. Some materials relate to the inauguration of President Merle Ward. Pages are not numbered.

Processing Information Note

The Dorothy Kussmaul Scrapbook was processed to the folder level by Melinda McMartin Isler in August 2009. A finding aid was prepared and converted to EAD 2.0, utilizing the Archivist Toolkit. A collection level MARC-format record was prepared and placed in the library online public access catalog. Description was based on Describing Archives: A Content Standard (Chicago: Society of American Archivists, 2004).
