O*Net Online: Occupational Online Network
The O*NET program is the nation's primary source of occupational information. O*NET OnLine was developed for the U.S. Department of Labor by the National Center for O*NET Development.
Career OneStop
Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor, this is a one
stop-shop to explore careers, seek out education, search salary information, receive advice on resumes and interviews, and search for a job.
Educational and Career Counseling [Ferris Only]
For those undecided Ferris Students or High School Students, interested in exploring career options, contemplating a career change or academic major change, the first and most critical stage in this cycle is self-assessment. In this stage, you explore your interests, skills, values and personality preferences as they relate to possible career and education alternatives. Once you have learned more about yourself, you can use that self-knowledge to identify occupations and/or majors of potential interest to you.
Books
For books, ebooks, and documents in the circulating collection (Main Stacks), use the Online Catalog. Search either using keyword or subject.

Journal Articles
Databases
To find journal articles on a particular topic, use one or more of the databases available on the FLITE Web site. These databases provide indexing to thousands of journal titles.
General OneFile
A very large full-text database with over 50 million articles covering a wide variety of subjects, General OneFile indexes both newspapers and journals.
WilsonSelect Plus
This database is completely full-text and includes articles from subject fields including science, humanities, education and business. Coverage is from 1994 to the present.
Access World News
Access World News contains the full-text of nearly 1700 primarily English-language news sources from around the world
Suggestions to retrieve better/more results:
- Search topic as both a keyword and subject
- Combine terms with AND or OR
- Set date ranges limit to a specific time
- Use quotes for phrases

MeLCat
Use MeLCat to look up books in other Michigan Libraries. MelCat items will be delivered to the circulation desk and you will receive an Email when the items arrive.
Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan is a service provided by FLITE to request articles and books that FLITE does not own. Most often this service is used when searching for articles in FLITE databases, and you are directed through the "Find It" button to request the item. The first time you use this service, you will need to register with ILLiad, our Inter-Library Loan service. Click on the words "First Time Users" to register. You will complete a form, creating a username and password which will be used for future requests. Article requests are emailed to you in 5-10 business days (ferris email preferred), and books will be mailed to you if you are an off-campus student. On-campus students may pick up books at the Checkout Desk.
