CONM 422 - Brayton/Corbeil

MelCat

Books in Print
Another place to look up books is Books in Print. You can find all books written by a specific author, including forthcoming books and books no longer in print.
Finding Magazine and Journal Articles
To find journal articles on a particular topic, use one or more of the databases available on the FLITE Web site. These databases provide indexing to thousands of journal titles. For your CONM 422 project, start with the following three databases:
Applied
Science & Technology Abstracts
Applied Science and Technology
Abstracts (ASTA) contains abstracts for articles published in more than 600
English-language scientific and technical periodicals. Subjects covered include
chemistry, mathematics, physics, computer technology, geology, and
engineering.
ABI/Inform
Global
ABI/INFORM has been a premier source of business and corporate
information for more than 30 years, containing content from thousands of
journals that help researchers track business conditions, trends, management
techniques, and corporate strategies. Coverage for this database begins in
1971.
General
Onefile
A very large full-text database with over 50 million articles
covering a myriad of subjects, General OneFile indexes both newspapers and
journals. Coverage is from 1980 to present. A few journals, especially older
dates, give only selective full-text.
Suggestions to retrieve better/more results:
- Search topic as both a keyword and subject
- Combine terms with AND or OR
- Set date ranges limit to a specific time
- Use quotes for phrases
- Subject searching: Search for the subject of your topic. Most articles are assigned a small number of subjects; these indicate the main subjects of the article.
- Keyworkd searching: Keyword searches search for appearance of the keyword. Sometimes you can choose to search only the title, author and abstract or to search the entire article.
Other databases are sorted by subject from the Database
Access page.
