Books
Many books on companies and their marketing
campaigns are available from FLITE. Try searching the Online
Catalog, for your firm (Hewlett
Packard. for instance). Look for books on the history of your company.
You can also perform a keyword
search as well for even more hits.
Another good source is the Encyclopedia of Major Marketing Campaigns.
This is found in Reference: HF 5387 .E53 2000.
Finding articles
Use some of the subscription databases available from the library's web site to locate articles on marketing or search the companies you are interested in and use the subdivisions to find articles on a particular aspect of the company(such as marketing). The following are the most relevant.
ABI/Inform
One of the first totally electronic database, ABI is the premier business
database. Coverage in this database starts in 1971 and it contains over
1,300 journals covering all areas of business including advertising
and marketing. Many articles are available full-text and it also provides
citation assistance.
Wilson
Select Plus
This completely full-text database includes articles from
a wide range of subject fields including science, humanities,
education and business. Coverage is from 1994 to the present.
The ability to perform Boolean searching is easier to see.
Infotrac
Infotrac is a multidisciplinary database that covers a wide variety
of topics. There is a large amount of full text in this database and
it is fairly easy to use. Stick to the subject guide search and use
the subdivisions to narrow your search term.
Other assistance
We have also made quick links to Style Guides , which you can access from the library home page. Guides include the APA style manual with examples. These guides are in PDF format.
I have also created a marketing handout which lists many print sources in our reference collection. This guide is also in PDF format.
We also provide a chat reference service where you can chat with a reference librarian if you have questions about library research. Hours are very generous as we staff from 9 - 10 Monday - Thursday and Friday from 10 - 9.
