Finding Articles at FLITE

To find journal and magazine articles on a particular topic, use one or more of the databases available on the FLITE Web site. These databases provide indexing to thousands of journal titles.

ABI/INFORM
ABI INFORM combines business and industry journals with international and scholarly content. Many important titles are available in full text.

General OneFile
A very large full-text database with over 50 million articles covering a myriad of subjects, General OneFile indexes both newspapers and journals. Coverage is from 1980 to present. A few journals, especially older dates, give only selective full-text.

Applied Science and Technology Abstracts
Applied Science and Technology Abstracts provides abstracts from 757 titles, and broadly covers science and technology.

Suggestions to retrieve better/more results:

  • Search topic as both a keyword and subject
  • Combine terms with AND or OR
  • Set date ranges limit to a specific time
  • Use quotes for phrases

Other databases are sorted by subject from the Database Access page.
Please read Off Campus Database Access for information on searching from home.

Interlibrary Loan and MeLCat

Interlibrary Loan is a service provided by FLITE to request articles and books that FLITE does not own. Most often this service is used when searching for articles in FLITE databases, and you are directed through the "Find It" button to request the item. The first time you use this service, you will need to register with ILLiad, our Inter-Library Loan service. Click on the words "First Time Users" to register. You will complete a form, creating a username and password which will be used for future requests. Article requests are emailed to you in 5-10 business days (ferris email preferred).

Books not found in the FLITE catalog may be available via MeLCat.
