FLITE Databases
FLITE subscribes to several databases which provide articles originially published in magazines, journals, and newspapers that are not freely available on the Web. Remember that if you want to use FLITE databases from off-campus, click here for instructions on how to log-in.
Biography Reference Bank includes full-text biographical information on over 500,000 people from antiquity to the present with information gleaned from reference books, links to articles and citations, and thousands of images.
With over 65 million articles, General OneFile is a great starting point for finding articles about contemporary figures.
The Gerritsen Collection: Women's History Online, 1543-1945
The internally-renowed resource holds over 2 million full-text pages from books, articles, and newspapers covering women's history. You might want to use this database if you are researching an American female icon in history.

JSTOR is a collection of scholarly journals with articles that cover subjects in the humanities. You may find this useful to choose from articles in the history field.

This completely full-text database includes articles from a wide range of subject fields including science, humanities, education and business. Coverage is from 1994 to the present.
FLITE Newspapers
Access World News contains the full-text of nearly 1700, mostly English-language, news sources from around the world, with coverage for most beginning in the 90s or 00s. Recent American icons may be found in this resource.
Covering every issue of the New York Times from its first issue in 1851 through December 31, 2004, this fascinating database allows you to read about history as it happens. It contains articles, editorials, ads, and obituaries. Historic American icons can be searched here. Through Ferris you can also access the historical newspapers for the Los Angeles Times, the Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal.
