Finding Journal Articles

Please read Off-Campus Database Access if you want to do your searching from home.

Communication databases are located under Social Science databases and include:

  • Communication and Mass Meda Complete
The most comprehensive indexing source in the field of communication, Communication & Mass Media Complete provides citations to articles in over 500 journals. Full-text coverage is provided for over 200 core journals. Though indexing and/or full-text for most journals starts in the 1990s, coverage extends back to the early or mid-twentieth century for several long-running titles.

  • Communication Studies
Communication Studies contains over 5,000 full-text articles from 19 journals published by Sage and participating societies. Subjects included are journalism, media studies, political communication, mass communication, interpersonal communication, intercultural communication, and business communication.
  • PsycINFO and Psyc Articles
PsycINFO is the most comprehensive indexing source for psychology and associated fields; PsycArticles is a full-text add-on to PsycINFO. Over 41,000 articles are available from about 50 core journals, with full-text coverage, in many cases, extending back to 1985.

  • Social Work Abstracts
The Social Work Abstracts database is produced by the National Association of Social Workers and contains more than 45,000 journal records from social work and other related fields. Coverage is from 1977 to present.

Use the Find a Periodical search to find a specific journal title at FLITE.
Remember to search the title of the journal, not the title of the article.

The Internet

Citation Style Guides

Whenever you are quoting or using information from a source, you must credit or cite that source. Failure to do so is plagiarism which can lead to expulsion from the University. FLITE provides a Plagiarism and Citation guide to help you learn more about this important topic. The tutorials and accompanying quizzes can help you determine what constitutes plagiarism.
