COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina Republican leaders have called on Republican National Committeeman Buddy Witherspoon to resign from a group they believe holds racist views.   Witherspoon says he has no intention of resigning from the Council of Conservative Citizens, which was founded by leaders of the segregationist White Citizens Council.   Witherspoon, a former Lexington County GOP chairman and a close ally of the Christian Coalition, insists the group is not a racist organization but is simply an advocate of conservative causes.
