
1. Working off campus- Are you interested in working on an internship, clerkship or rotation for your program? Curricular Practical Training (CPT) is a great opportunity for you to work off-campus in your field of study. The International Center is hosting a CPT workshop on Tuesday, November 10th at 11 a.m. and Thursday, November 12th at 5 p.m. This is the perfect opportunity to understand what to do to apply CPT. Students who are unable to attend the session should still work on their CPT paperwork before the start of the next semester..
2. Career Services and the International Center are hosting a joint workshop on careers. This workshop will specifically focus on differences international students should be aware of when applying for a job and helpful tips to consider. The International Student Advisor will also be available to answer questions regarding immigration and work related questions. The workshop will be on November 3rd at 11 a.m. The location is in FLITE. Room is to be determined
3. The Diversity Visa lottery started on October 2nd. This is your chance to secure a “green card” or permanent residency in the U.S. based on a lottery system. The U.S. government gives away 50,000 green cards to people from countries with low rates of immigration to the U.S. The government is accepting applications until November 30th. Not all people are eligible; there are some nationalities that are excluded from the diversity lottery because of the large amounts of individuals immigrating to the U.S. Click here For more information.
4. Potluck- The International Center is hosting a Potluck on Wednesday, November 18th at 6 p.m. in FLITE Room 438. Please come and bring a dish of food to share with others. This could include a food item as simple as chips or fruit or better a dish from your home country. For more information on this, contact Shana at

5. Health Insurance- Health insurance will be mandatory for next semester for all F-1 students. Ferris is working with a new insurance provider that works exclusively with international students. The provider, HTH Insurance, has a comprehensive health insurance program that covers international student needs. The cost is $72 per month. Students will be automatically be added to the Ferris plan where the costs are added to each student account. For more information on this, please contact lockwoj1@ferris.edu .
