FSU Policy on Handheld Computing Devices
Operating System Recommended:
Palm OS and Windows CE are the recommended operating systems for handheld computing devices. Call your consortium support office for additional requirements for your discipline.
Software Supported:
Syncing software recommended is EasySync. If you need a to remotely sync your PDA, we recommend M-Notes. (Additional hardware may be required.) Your support consortia may have additional requirements.
Services Provided:
FSU Computer Consortia will provide the following services in relation to the supported system.
Procurement- Your consortium support office will assist with selecting the appropriate device and installation using the existing FSU Guidelines Governing Financial Accounting of FSU Computer-related Acquisitions process. We encourage our customers to use this process whenever possible.
Software support- for the recommended software listed above, FSU computer consortia will provide installation, assist with questions, and resolve problems with synchronization between the PDA and FSU Lotus Notes.
Help Desk support- all FSU customers should contact their respective help desks during normal business hours. The help desk will attempt to resolve the problem, and dispatch a technician to the customer's location if necessary.
Services Not Provided:
FSU will not provide the following:
Backup or restoration of user data. All data contained in the PDA is the user's responsibility. In case of a hardware or software failure, FSU will work with the customer to repair the unit (if possible) and re-install supported software. It is the customer's responsibility to reload data and third party applications into the Pilot.
Support for other mail systems.
We cannot assist with or provide problem resolution for synchronization between the PDA and any e-mail system other than the FSU Lotus Notes mail system. |
