Note: To get to personal web pages for migrated users the URL is: - http://161.57.5.117/~username
After the migration is complete at which time the DNS entry for myhomepage will be changed to reference 161.57.5.117. Then all will be in sync.
Students, faculty, and staff may host personal web pages on the Ferris Novell Network storage area network. General rules governing the use of electronic resources apply (e.g. commercial use is prohibited, copyright and intellectual property rights must be observed in the placement of any material on the personal website, etc.). Specific disk space limits have not been placed at this time, though individuals are asked to voluntarily limit their web sites to 10 megabytes or less. It should be noted that employees are expected to work on their web pages on their own time.
Ferris State University does not require employees or students to develop a personal webpage, but this initiative provides a "try it yourself" opportunity that was not previously available. The original UAP described this initiative as one that helps create a campus climate that stimulates FSU employees and students to become more familiar with, and understanding of the Internet and web technology.
