Screen Resolution

Have you ever created a Web page, viewed it on someone else's computer, and realize you have to use the scroll bar from left to right to view the whole page. Have you ever wondered why?

There are many uncontrollable elements involved in creating a Web page that the developer has to be aware of. For instance, the screen resolution you have your computer set for may not complement your Web page when viewed by other users using a different setting. The end result may be they have to scroll your Web page from left to right and top to bottom, making it a very unpleasant experience for the user.

Recent statistics show majority of the viewers use a 800 x 600 screen resolution. Preview your Web page using that setting to make sure the user does not have to scroll from left to right.

If you are using Homesite, you can preview your page and change the settings also.

  • Click on the browse tab
  • Change the browser choice to preferred setting, 800 x 600
  • Click on open an external browser and view the page.
