  • Trip Format
All of our trips are based on the "common adventurer" philosophy which holds that the foremost goal of any common adventure is to achieve an enjoyable and worthwhile experience while displaying the greatest respect for the natural environment and each other.
As a "common adventurer" you must recognize that all trips are conducted in an uncontrolled outdoor environment and have a degree of danger. There is always the potential for injury or death.
As a "common adventurer" you must accept this risk and take responsibility for your safety, and the safety of the group. Keep in mind this is a group effort; the safety of the group takes precedent over the individual's perceived needs.

  • Registration
You may register for trips at the University Recreation office located in the Student Recreation Center. Trips are open on a first-come, first-served basis. Numbers are generally limited to 6 to 8 participants due to environmental concerns. Trip minimum numbers may vary from trip to trip, but as a general rule it will take 6 to make a trip go. 100% of the trip fee is due at the time of registration. Refunds will not be given. You may find a replacement.

  • Pre-trip Meetings
Pre-trip meetings are scheduled for virtually all University trips and are usually held within one week of the scheduled trip date. In pre-trip meetings, participants are given important information and/or instructed in skills necessary for participation in their upcoming trip. Attendance at any pre-trip meeting is mandatory for trip participation. Refunds will not be issued to individuals who cannot participate in an outing through failure to attend the mandatory pre-trip meeting.

  • Ethics
While our trips are informal, each one can become a learning experience for beginners as well as for experienced persons. While enjoying ourselves and learning about the outdoors, it is necessary to show respect for your fellow adventurers, yourself, equipment, staff, and most importantly the environment. Never forget we are the guests.

  • Cancellations
We reserve the right to cancel and issue credit or refund, if enrollment is insufficient, if weather or other conditions preclude holding the course, or if participants fail to meet course prerequisites.
