Fall 2009 Fitness Programs

Program Dates: Sept. 14-Dec. 11, 2009 No Fitness Classes November 23-27
12 week session


Zumba will now be taught at the Racquet Fitness Center.


Final Cut

Final Cut is an intense, total body sculpting class.  During the workout, participants will learn proper form and technique for resistance training.  Using a variety of equipment, participants will increase strength, definition and endurance of all major muscle groups.  Final Cut is a class designed for all levels of fitness.

Mon/Wed: 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Step Aerobics

Participants of step class will burn fat and increase fitness levels.  This is a fun workout that features uncomplicated step choreography.  This class is suitable for all levels of experience and ability.

Mon/Fri: 6:15 – 7:00 am

Yoga for Strength

This class enhances strength and flexibility and is beneficial to all levels of participant.

Wed: 6:15 – 7:00 am

Pilates

Pilates will help sculpt a leaner body in a controlled, non-impact class.  Pilates helps improve core strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility.  Participants will increase awareness of proper body alignment and breathing, while improving posture.  This class is suitable for all levels of experience and ability.

Thurs: 6:00 – 6:45 pm

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is gentle physical exercise and stretching to help reduce stress, increase flexibility, and improve muscle strength and definition.  Practicing Tai Chi will also help to increase energy, stamina, agility, and feelings of well-being.  Anyone, regardless of age or physical ability, can practice Tai Chi.

Tue/Thurs: 12:30 – 1:30 pm AND 5:30 – 6:30 pm

Anusara (a-nu-SAR-a) Yoga

Anusara yoga is a powerful Hatha yoga method designed to build strength, balance and flexibility.  Participants will learn body and breath awareness, increase circulation and balance, and develop muscular stability.  This class is designed to serve all levels of experience and ability.

Mon: 12:10 – 12:45 pm

Tues/Thurs: 7:30 – 9:00 pm

Fri: 6:30 – 8:00 pm

Sat: 2:00 – 3:30 pm

Water Aerobics

Water Aerobics emphasizes total body conditioning using the natural resistance of the water.  Because water causes your body to be buoyant, there is less stress on the joints while exercising.  Participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend.

Mon/Wed/Fri: 8:30 – 9:30 am AND 10:00 – 11:00 am

Full payment is due at the start of each session. Sessions may be paid with cash, check, or (if charging an entire semester) to a student account. Before attending a class, you must check in at the University Recreation reception desk to receive a fitness pass for each class.

Make up classes must be completed by the end of the next session.

Full refunds are available by notifying the front desk no later than 24 hours of the first class date. 50% refunds will be given during the second week of clinics. If a session is cancelled, a full refund will follow. No other refunds are available.

The Aerobic/Fitness instructors reserve the right to remove any participant from any session for any misconduct they deem detrimental to the class, without refunding any payments.

All classes must have a minimum of 4 people or they may be cancelled.

W.O.W is a FREE program incorporating exercise, nutrition, flexibility, safe weight loss and more!

Our program runs from:

September 21 –  December 11

Open to all Ferris State University Faculty and Staff AND, for the first time, students!!

*Because we are incorporating students for the first time, we are limiting sign-up to the first 50 students to keep the program quality and attention to detail intact.
