SINGLE STUDENT TOWNHOUSE APARTMENTS
For single students 20 years of age and older with at least a 2.0 GPA
Ferris prides itself on maintaining an academic atmosphere in our apartments. We are very pleased you requested living accommodations on our campus. By completing and returning the attached application, you will have taken the first step toward becoming a member of our university housing community.
APARTMENTS ASSIGNMENTS
Qualified* applicants will be contacted via telephone or fsuimail only when apartments become available. Assignments for Fall Semester usually start around the first week in July; for Winter Semester the first week of November; and for Summer Semester the first week of April. It is the applicant's responsibility to update their contact information. The inability to reach an applicant with the contact information provided will result in being passed over for the next applicant.
*Applicants must be fully accepted, matriculated student and must not have any outstanding debt to the University to receive an assignment. Those students who are not qualified will not be contacted by the Assignment Coordinator. The right of final assignment rests with the University.
TOWNHOUSE APARTMENTS - West Campus
Townhouse apartments are available to single students on west campus. These townhouses have a full basement with a washer and dryer, a main living area and an upstairs with two or three bedrooms. These apartments are reserved for students who are in good academic and behavioral standing with the University.
CONTRACT
Based on apartment availability, a University apartment contract will be sent to you approximately one month prior to the semester you indicated on your application. Tenants must remain currently enrolled student to reside in the University Apartments.
$400 DEPOSIT
A deposit of $400 will be required before moving into the apartment. The deposit will be refunded to you provided all the terms of your contract have been fulfilled. Students transferring from the residence hall to an apartment may transfer their residence hall deposit ($200) to the apartment; however they will need to pay an additional $200 to complete the $400 deposit required for the university apartments. The deposit will be forfeited if you refuse to accept an apartment after an assignment has been made.
Rent includes all utilities, local telephone, cable television, data connectivity, laundry and a programming fee.
FURNISHING The townhouses have bedrooms upstairs, a full basement downstairs, with the living room and kitchen on the main floor. Three bedroom townhouses have a half bath on the main level and a full bath on the upper level.
Handicapped accessible townhouses are also available where the entire living area is on the main level. All townhouse apartments are unfurnished.
They are carpeted, with the exception of the kitchen and bathroom which are linoleum. The kitchen appliances include a stove, refrigerator, and dishwasher. The washer and dryer are located in the basement which also offers plenty of storage space.
Tenants must provide all of their own furnishings. Tenants will need to provide their own linens, dishes, pots, pans, silverware, TV, VCR, lamps and any other personal items to make the apartment more like home.
RENTERS INSURANCE The University does not carry insurance or assume responsibility for the tenants' personal belongings in University Apartments. You are encouraged to carry renter's insurance with your insurance company on your personal belongings. If you are not currently dealing with an insurance company, there are several local firms to assist.
DATA CONNECTIVITY, TELEPHONE AND CABLE SERVICE
These services are included in the rent. Each apartment is wired for internet and cable TV. A telephone is provided in each apartment. To dial long distance you will need to acquire an authorization code at the Timme Center for Student Services.
COMMUNITY CENTER The Community Center plays a vital role in fostering community in and amongst the apartments, encouraging all citizens to participate within the neighborhoods. Programming is provided at the Center to facilitate this social interaction and supplement the students' educational endeavors.
The Community Center incorporates a large multipurpose room, three conference study rooms, computer lab, and a lobby reception desk. There is a picnic and play area located on the grounds behind the Center. There are vending machines, as well as a bulletin board, for posting notices to other residents. Information concerning upcoming Community Center events can usually be found in the lobby.
Rent for the 2007-08 Academic year will be $450.00 per person/per bedroom, charged by the semester. Remember this includes everything except long distance calls.
